Research Report
For my research report, I elected to write about the controversy surrounding digitally-created art as it is integrated into the world of fine art. I selected this topic in hopes of gaining some perspective on the controversy around the use of computers to generate art. As an artist during the rise of the digital age, I will likely be affected in some capacity by the increase in prevalence of computer-generated art, whether positive or negative. I hoped to learn about the potential effects of digital art on the fine art market, and whether it has the potential to devalue art produced using traditional processes. I also wanted to gain perspective on what defines art, and what would cause digital art to be excluded from that category.
